Abstract: The article gives a brief review of the book devoted to professor Aleksandr Matveyev, a distinguished scholar, the leader of the Ural School of Onomastics and the founding editor of the journal Voprosy onomastiki (Problems of Onomastics). The authors emphasize the outstanding personality of Aleksandr Matveyev who did so much in his studies and in his life.
