Male Names of the Inhabitants of Chernigov and Novgorod in the 17th Century Manuscripts

Abstract: The research is devoted to the male names of native inhabitants of Chernigov and Novgorod regions fixed in the written monuments of the 17th century. The author suggests comparative facets analyzing modes and means of the personal identification on these archaic East-Slavonic territories. This observation allows revealing both common East Slavic and specifically regional trends and principles of nomination in the identification system of Chernigov and Novgorod inhabitants.
